Saturday on the Pond

This Saturday we were very lucky to get to escape to the country for a little relaxation with friends.  Our friends Robby and Foley have a wonderful cabin about 15 miles out of town (which in a large city I realize wouldn't get you far, but here in Starkville it feels like you're 100 miles from civilization) that belongs to Foley's parents.  It is the perfect getaway and we love taking the short drive out whenever we can.  Not only is the cabin completely beautiful (Foley and her family own the building supply here in town, and have a great eye for design and beautiful building materials), but it is so peaceful too.

We also enjoyed relaxing on the porch, hanging out in the pond (they dumped a lot of pea gravel just off shore so that you can stand up without standing on the muddy pond bottom - genius), and cooking a delicious dinner before heading back into town.

Unfortunately these are the only pics I snapped, as I was trying to corral the crazy poodles the rest of the time.  Turns out our little Layla love is really a city girl.  Something out in the woods didn't agree with her sensitive skin and she was not a happy camper.

Sweet little girl spent this morning at an emergency visit to the vet, and after a very intense bath, x-ray, shot, and three prescription meds is back at home and on the road to recovery.  Poor girl!
